Hand-held shot in near total darkness. ISO 3200 sure helped some, but the image stabilization of the kit lens helped a LOT (notice the shutter speed of 0.5 Another hand-held shot at 0.3 I'm seeing prime-like low-light capabilities from the kit lens here. 1/6

Event - Midnight Song Festival, a Student Days classic. Nevermind the tacked-on Bamboo Rally pictures at the end, I had no other place to put them.

Photography - Left all my lenses at home except for the Canon 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 Image Stabilized kit lens. Just wanted to see HOW good the IS is and whether it'd help the kit become a better low-light lens (since it's pretty miserable at that). Well, the IS won't make it a competitor to my current low-light champ, the Sigma 30mm F1.4. But it certainly is extremely helpful. The pictures are nowhere near prime quality (and I'm talking low-light ability, not optical quality), but at least they are serviceable and that's a huge improvement over pure crap, which is what I would have gotten without IS.

BTW, here are some pictures from previous years (I believe I used the Canon 50mm F1.8 prime there): http://antonipildid.net/06.04.27_MudWrestling, http://antonipildid.net/05.04.27_3rd_day.
