Photography - Thought I'd take my faux ringflash (the cheap'o Chinese kind) but I was underwhelmed. For the ringflash effect to work, the subject has to be dead center in the picture and I need to shoot the subject from a closer distance than I find feasible (because the proportions get too distorted). It'd probably work better if the ringflash was larger in diameter but AFAIK they don't make portable versions of those. Sure, people (especially guys) kept approaching me and asking what the heck was that contraption on my camera, but since the effect in the pictures was underwhelming, I'll leave it at home in the future. Verdict - portable ringflashes are not that great for event photography.
